Carolina Morace made one tweak to the side that beat Crystal Palace in midweek, with suspended captain Lois Joel replaced in central midfield by Connie Scofield.

South Korea international Cho So-Hyun fired the Blues ahead only five minutes into the match, controlling the ball 20-yards from Hermione Cull’s goal before sending an arcing shot into the top corner.

Tinaya Alexander rattled the crossbar for London City later in the half, combining neatly with Danielle Carter before whipping a shot off the iron and out of play.

Carter was next to test the hosts’ resolve, forcing Darren Carter’s side into yet another vital rearguard action.

While the Blues enjoyed the bulk of possession, it was the Pride who created the majority of the afternoon’s chances.

Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah attempted to repeat her Continental League Cup heroics, stinging the palms of Lucy Thomas from the 25-yard mark.

Choe Yu-Ri created Birmingham City’s best chance of the second half, breaking beyond London City’s backline before firing a low shot into the side netting.

The Pride return to Princes Park next Sunday [4 February], hosting Blackburn Rovers in a crucial Barclays Women’s Championship fixture.
