A Third Successive London Derby

London City Lionesses will arrive at the Chigwell Construction Stadium today for a third consecutive London derby, as Eder Maestre’s side face West Ham United in our final fixture before the April internationals.

After a strong showing against Chelsea last time out, London City arrive with momentum, confidence, and a point to prove.

Both sides will be looking to get points on the board, after struggling to find wins as of late.

The Hammers have one win in their previous five games, most recently losing 5-0 to Arsenal. They will be hoping to replicate their early 2026 form, recording wins against Leicester City and a stunning late comeback against Brighton & Hove Albion.

With both sides chasing important points in the closing stretch of the season, this one promises to be another competitive London contest.

Here is your full match preview.

London City Lionesses

London City come into Sunday’s clash following an impressive 1-1 draw against the reigning champions, Chelsea, at The Den last week.

Izzy Goodwin’s late equaliser secured a point for City, after a determined team performance, creating multiple chances in the second half.

It was a display of resilience from Eder Maestre’s side, one that showcased the team’s ability to compete with some of the league’s strongest opponents.

It is crucial to carry that momentum into another London derby, and build on last week’s performance at the Den.

There’s further boost for London City, with Saki Kumagai and Alanna Kennedy returning to the squad after representing their nations in the Asian Cup Final.

West Ham are also strengthened by their Asian Cup finalists. Saki Kumagai will be on the opposite side to her Japanese teammate Riko Ueki, who arrives at the Chigwell Construction Stadium as the Asian Cup’s top scorer.

Team News

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Eder Maestre confirmed that Daniëlle van de Donk and Grace Geyoro will miss Sunday’s fixture through injury.

However, London City are boosted by the return of Saki Kumagai and Alanna Kennedy, who rejoin the squad following international duty.

There’s also a special moment on the cards, with Delphine Cascarino potentially set to face her sister Estelle, adding another compelling narrative to today’s game.

Opposition Overview: West Ham United

West Ham head into Sunday’s fixture looking to bounce back from a difficult run of form, with one win in their last five matches.

Despite recent results, the Hammers remain a dangerous side, with quality across the park. Their last win was against Brighton, scoring 83rd, 87th and 90th minute goals to come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

75% of the Hammers points have come at home this season, and six out of their previous seven games have been drawn or decided by a single goal, proving that they will be a difficult side to break down.

Shekiera Martinez is the main threat to watch out for, with the German in double figures for West Ham in all competitions this season.

We will also be reunited with Katie Zelem, who joined the East London outfit on loan from London City in January.

Last Time We Met

The last meeting between the two sides saw London City Lionesses secure a 1-0 victory, thanks to a sneaky finish from Kosovare Asllani, stealing the ball from Kinga Szemik’s feet to score the only goal of the game at the CopperJax Community Stadium back in October.

It was a disciplined and controlled performance that earned all three points, and London City will be aiming to repeat that success on Sunday.

You can watch Asllani’s goal below.
