London City Lionesses are pleased to announce that Lucy Fitzgerlad has signed a new contract, keeping her with the Lionesses for another season.
One of the original members of the side that played against the London Bee’s in London City’s first fixture, Fitzgerald has gone on to make over 50 appearances for the club in her three seasons here.
Last season, Fitzy racked up six clean sheets in 20 appearances for the Pride, putting in many a memorable shift at full-back.
Speaking having signed her new contract, Fitzy said:
“I am very excited to sign again for London City.
“I have been here from the beginning of the club, and I’ve seen how much it has grown over the past years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to improve myself further as a player and person in this environment.
“I can’t wait to get going again for the new season, and strive to achieve success with the team.”
When asked her thoughts on Fitzy and her new deal, Head Coach, Melissa Phillips had this to say:
Lucy’s commitment and hard work has been unrivalled this season.
“Her attitude, maturity and flexibility are well beyond her years both as a person and footballer.
“We are excited that we get to continue fostering her development alongside that of the club next season.
“Fitzy has been a mainstay within the London City squad and a key contributor to our most successful season.
“She has a bright future ahead and we can’t wait to get going with Lucy on board.”
