London City Lionesses are delighted to announce a matchday collaboration with Bromley and Croydon Women’s Aid (BCWA) at the upcoming Barclays Women’s Super League match against Leicester City at the CopperJax Community Stadium, Bromley (Sunday 26 April, kick-off 12pm).

The club will be supporting the local charity helping to raise awareness of their work through matchday activations at the stadium.

Representatives from BCWA also be at the game and there will be a stand in the fanzone.

Staff from the charity will also be running education sessions with the club’s players and staff in the week of the fixture.

BCWA is a specialist domestic abuse charity supporting individuals and families who are worried about, at risk of, or experiencing domestic abuse.

Established 50 years ago, BCWA provides life-changing support services and works to raise awareness and build safer futures across the local community.

London City Lionesses winger Freya Godfrey said: “We’re honoured to be partnering with Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid for this weekend’s game against Leicester City.

“They do such important work in the local community, supporting people and helping them build safer futures.

“The education session they did with us at the training ground was really informative and made us think and we’re grateful they took the time to come in and speak to us.

“We’re looking forward to having them at the game on Sunday.

"We would be really grateful if our fans and anyone who would like to support this cause could help us with fundraising in any way they can."

Constanze Sen, Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid CEO: “Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid are proud to partner with the London City Lionesses and value the team's commitment to creating safer, stronger communities. Domestic abuse is something that can affect anyone. It’s estimated that 1 in 4 women will experience it in their lifetime and we’re seeing more people reach out to us for support. Football brings people together, and we want to use that sense of community to let people know they’re not alone.”

In addition to raising vital awareness of domestic abuse and the help available, funds raised as part of the campaign will directly support BCWA’s community-based services, including crisis support, specialist advocacy, and programmes that help survivors rebuild their confidence and safety. BCWA’s advice line supports approximately 300 callers per month, ensuring local people can access information and support when they need it most.

What your donation could provide:

  • £10 could help provide emergency essentials (toiletries, clothing, food and other necessities) for women arriving in refuge with nothing.

  • £75 could help fund specialist support group sessions that tackle the social isolation experienced by victims of domestic abuse, helping people build a peer support network.

  • £100 could help keep the advice line running, supporting approximately 300 callers per month.

  • £500 could help train an Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA), who supports victims at high risk of serious harm from the point of crisis.
