Updated: Jun 9, 2023

Ronald Thompson has been appointed as the Head of Recruitment and Player Acquisition at London City Lionesses.

He joins from Brighton & Hove Albion, where he was Women’s Recruitment Lead for three and half seasons.

Chair Diane Culligan said: “We are very pleased to announce that Ronald has joined us to spearhead our recruitment in what we believe will be a transformational period for London City Lionesses. His depth of experience will attract an exciting range of talent to the Club and we are looking forward to bright times together.”

Before his stint on the south coast, Thompson amassed almost two decades of experience at the Football Association, working as a national scout, performance analyst, and national talent identification coordinator.

“Primarily, my role is about player recruitment and attempting to retain and bring in players who will help us push to promotion,” said Thompson.

“Alongside that, I have been tasked with bringing in new staff members and finding the calibre of people who will help us reach the Barclays Women’s Super League – which is the Club’s ambition. When you speak with Diane, you are infused with her energy and passion for what we’re trying to achieve.

“The Club has been around for four years and it has progressed on the pitch. This summer is about retaining the best talent that we currently have, strengthening even further, and ensuring we bring in the right coaching staff to do the job that needs to be done.”
