London City Lionesses appoint Becky Langley as First Team Assistant Coach

London City Lionesses are pleased to confirm the appointment of Becky Langley as our First Team Assistant Coach, following the recent hiring of Head Coach Eder Maestre.

Langley brings a wealth of experience in women's football, spending six years as the Newcastle United Women’s manager.

During her time on Tyneside, she oversaw back-to-back promotions and guided the team from the fourth tier to the second tier of the women's football pyramid.

She was also in charge as Newcastle United Women turned fully professional in 2023, becoming the first third-tier side to do so, and led the team during its first-ever fixtures at St. James' Park.

Last season, Langley guided the club to a fifth-place finish in their debut season in the Women's Super League 2.

Alongside her club experience, Langley has also held roles within Nottingham Forest, Northumbria University and English Universities Sport.

She now joins London City Lionesses' technical staff as First Team Assistant Coach, adding further experience and continuity as the club continues to build under Maestre's leadership.

Langley said: “I’m really excited to be here at London City, to be in the Women’s Super League is something I’m enthusiastic and excited about.

“I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going. I think the project has no ceiling here, having an owner who is so ambitious for success at London City and in women’s football is really exciting.

“The talent we have in this squad, it was a no brainer for me to join the project. My role is to support Eder and the team, to be a winning team and to push to be one of the best teams in the WSL.
