We’re thrilled to announce that Connie Scofield has signed a one-year contract extension with London City Lionesses.
The Northern Ireland international arrived from Leicester City in July 2023, making 22 appearances in the Barclays Women’s Championship, Adobe Women’s FA Cup, and Continental Tyres League Cup.
“It’s a really exciting time for the Club and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” said Scofield of her decision to ink a new deal. “Although we had our struggles last season, it was always an enjoyable environment to come into and that will only improve with the changes that are happening behind the scenes.
“Michele [Kang] has big ambitions for what she wants to achieve and I’m excited to be back at London City.”
The Birmingham-born midfielder quickly became a fan favourite in her first season in blue, marking her home debut with a fierce strike in a comeback win over Watford in September 2023.
Scofield’s fine form for London City caught the attention of national team scouts, with Tanya Oxtoby handing the 25-year-old playmaker her international debut against Malta in April 2024.
Director of Football Ronald Thompson added: ““Connie provides great energy on and off the pitch, bringing everyone along with her. She’s technically very good and tidy with the ball and is great at breaking down play when our opponents have possession.
“While building our squad for the season ahead, we felt that Connie was another important piece of the jigsaw that would help us achieve our ambitions. She’s a brilliant professional and we’re thrilled to have her back this season.”
Scofield, whose extension includes the option of a further season, started her career at Birmingham City, making 29 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances, before departing to Leicester City and spending a short-term loan spell at Coventry United.
