13 London City Lionesses Called Up for International Duty

It’s another busy international window for the London City Lionesses, with 13 players representing eight countries across senior and youth levels.
Our group going away features experienced internationals such as Kosovare Asllani, Saki Kumagai, and Alanna Kennedy, alongside emerging talents Cerys Brown, Isobel Goodwin, and Freya Godfrey, who all link up with England’s Under-23 side.
This is a proud moment for London City, with the international break providing a reflection of the Club’s growing international presence and the quality within the squad.

A Word from Jocelyn Prêcheur
“I’m very, very proud! You need to build the team, but also the individuals, keep developing them, sometimes more physically or tactically.
“We try to develop all of our players and when we see they improve, we are so proud of them, and when this is confirmed by a call-up, we are so proud."
“For Wassa (Sangaré), it’s her first time in the French national team. For Cerys (Brown), her first time in the England U23’s, Lotta (Lindström) has done incredible to get back into Finland’s team (after her injury) and it means we are doing well, we need to keep working, but it is a victory for me.”

When are the games?
Germany U23 vs England U23
· Thursday 23rd October, 17:15 BST
· European WU23 Competition
Our Young Lionesses kick off the international break this evening from Germany from the SportPark Johannisau at 17:15.
Freya Godfrey and Izzy Goodwin return to the England U23’s squad, with their London City link-up shining the last time they shared the stage, with Freya creating the chances, and Izzy scoring them.
They will also take Cerys Brown with them to Germany – the first time she has represented her country at U23 level. All of us are so proud of Cerys and congratulate her on an amazing achievement.

Germany vs France
· Friday 24th October, 16:45 BST
· UEFA Nations League – League A Play-Off
Grace Geyoro and Wassa Sangaré also take on the Germans, at senior level the day after England U23s play.
Geyoro – a regular star of the French national team – will welcome young talent Wassa Sangaré into the senior team for the first time this international break.
Les Bleues will go into the Merkur Spiel-Arena inspired, after a gutting exit to Germany in EURO 2025, losing on penalties. Grace Geyoro scored France’s only goal in the game.
Italy vs Japan

· International Friendly
London City leadership and experience meets on Friday night, in a heavyweight clash between Italy and France.
Former Roma partnership, and current London City partnership, Elena Linari and Saki Kumagai, will go head-to-head in the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Finland vs Denmark
· Friday 24th October, 17:00 BST
· UEFA Nations League – League A/B Play-Off
After highly impressing in the WSL, resilient Lotta Lindström has earned herself a deserved call-up back into the Finland national team setup, returning from a huge injury setback from last year.
She is joined by a regular in the Finland setup, summer signing Sanni Franssi. The London City teammates take on Denmark on Friday night as they look to keep their place in the Nations League Group A at the Tammelan Stadion.

Spain vs Sweden
· Friday 24th October, 19:00 BST
· UEFA Nations League Semi-Final
The first leg of a huge Nations League clash also takes place on Friday night – and it features London City on both sides of the pitch.
Jana Fernández and Lucía Corrales will feature for Spain, whilst Kosovare Asllani is expected to lead the line the country she has played over 200 times for.
It will be a massive game, with the first leg being hosted at the Estadio La Rosaleda in Málaga.

Wales vs Australia
· Saturday 25th October, 14:00 BST
· International Friendly
Alanna Kennedy – despite being called up for Australia – doesn’t have to travel far for international duty in October.
Her first trip is to Wales, to take on their national team at the Cardiff City Stadium in an international friendly fixture.

England U23 vs Portugal U23
· Monday 27th October, 19:00 BST
· European WU23 Competition
Our trio of English U23’s players will host Portugal in their second game of the international break on Monday night.
They will kick off from the Sixfields Stadium in Northampton at 7pm UK time.

Italy vs Brazil
· Tuesday 28th October, 17:15 BST
· International Friendly
Elena Linari and the Italian national team will face Brazil – adding to a tough double-header of world class opponents for the Italian in this international break.
Similar to their first game of this break, they will be on home turf, this time at the Stadio Ennio Tardini (Parma).

Norway vs Japan
· Tuesday 28th October, 17:00 BST
· International Friendly
After her match against Italy, Saki Kumagai heads to Norway for hers and Japan’s second fixture of the October internationals.
Japan will face Norway in a friendly fixture on Tuesday 28th October, at 5pm BST, in Spain.

Sweden vs Spain
· Tuesday 28th October, 18:00 BST
· UEFA Nations League Semi-Final
The second leg of the UEFA Nations League Semi-Final takes place just four days after the first fixture, with a tight turnaround for Kosovare Asllani, Jana Fernández and Lucía Corrales.
The winner of this tie across both legs will face either Germany or France in the final.

Denmark vs Finland

· UEFA Nations League – League A/B Play-Off
Finland face Denmark twice in four days too, in the fight to stay in Group A of the Women’s Nations League.
Sanni Franssi and Lotta Lindstrom will be looking to make a difference for their country, both playing on the frontline for club and country.

England vs Australia
· Tuesday 28th October, 19:00 BST
· International Friendly
A huge fixture at the end of the internations is Australia’s second game, as they take on Sarina Weigman’s European Championship winning England side at Wembley.
It’s a huge fixture for the Lionesses and the Matildas, in what will be a busy Wembley Stadium.

France vs Germany
· Tuesday 28th October, 20:10 BST
· UEFA Nations League – League A Play-Off
The internationals will draw to a close for the London City Lionesses players’ travelling, when France and Germany draws to a close on Tuesday night.
The last fixture – but an absolutely crucial one – the winner of this tie will head to the UEFA Nations League final.
