Sanni Franssi makes Sunderland Loan Switch

London City Lionesses can confirm forward Sanni Franssi has joined Women’s Super League Two side Sunderland on a season-long loan. 

Franssi arrived into Cobdown Park in the summer of 2025 and featured 23 times across all competitions last season, scoring two goals in our Subway Women’s League Cup campaign. 

The 31-year-old previously spent over five years at Real Sociedad, where she made 135 appearances in the Spanish top-flight, scoring 35 goals.  

Franssi has featured over 90 times for Finland, including in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 and 2025. 

She has also won a number of titles across Europe, including league triumphs in Finland with PK-35, Italy with Juventus, and Denmark with Fortuna Hjør.
