Following close engagement with Tonbridge & Malling Council, local communities and key stakeholders, we’re delighted to have submitted our planning application for a new home at Cobdown Park.
This is an important and exciting milestone for the Club. Our proposals would create a new world-class Training Centre that can not only support the continued growth and success of our professional women’s team but also the development of the grassroots game in Kent and beyond.
Our submitted plans seek to:
Further establish London City Lionesses as a leading women’s football team, building on our recent promotion to the WSL and investing in the infrastructure, capabilities, staff and players we need for long-term success.
Set the gold standard as a centre for excellence for women’s football, with facilities comparable to a men’s Premier League club but also tailored to better promote the wellness of our players and staff, including childcare facilities to ensure parenthood doesn’t serve as a barrier to playing high-level sport.
Build one of the largest state-of-the-art dedicated women’s training facilities in the world, and enhance the only girl’s academy in Kent. Our plans would allow the Academy to significantly grow its outreach to the local community with a safe space and high-quality environment for young girls.
Provide and maintain a new 3G football pitch for use by the Academy and the community on a managed basis. Our vision is that this becomes a central hub for Kent Girls and Ladies football leagues, and other important initiatives such as disability mixed leagues and local school SEND days.
Create around 50 new jobs once operational, contributing £1million per year to the local economy, with an additional 285 jobs also during construction.
Continue to expand our community outreach programmes, with more time spent coaching in local schools and on-site initiatives for local female coaches and referees – all led by our dedicated community and fan engagement officer.
Champion the development of the women’s game, both nationally and internationally, at a time when it is growing from strength to strength in the UK with inspiring successes from our national Lionesses.
We now need your support – send your comments to the Council
The Council is now undertaking their own statutory consultation on our plans, and we need your support to help ensure this vision for women’s football becomes a reality.
Submitting a comment takes just a few minutes via the link below and every email can make a significant impact.
Thank you again to all those who have engaged with us so far. We look forward to the next few months and a decision on our application later this year.
