Remembering Rado Vidošić
This weekend’s fixture will be played with heavy hearts, as we remember a much-loved member of the Brighton & Hove Albion family.
The club is mourning the loss of Rado Vidošić, Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s and Girls’ Head of Coaching, who sadly passed away at the age of 64 following a brave battle with cancer. Rado’s impact on the club, and on the countless people he worked with throughout his career, will be felt for a long time to come.
Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s Assistant Head Coach, Chris Roberts, paid tribute this week, describing Rado as “one of the most incredible men I’ve ever met,” adding that his infectious personality, warmth and outstanding football mind made a lasting impression on everyone around him. “He made people smile,” Roberts said. “He was great company.”
Head coach Dario Vidošić, Rado’s son, is currently taking a period of leave to be with his family in Australia during this difficult time. In his absence, the team will be led by Chris Roberts.
Ahead of kick-off, there will be a minute’s silence in tribute to Rado, with supporters invited to take their seats by 11:50am to allow the moment to be observed in full. Both teams will also wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
All of us at London City Lionesses wish Dario, family and friends, and the players and staff at Brighton the very best during this difficult time.
London City Lionesses: Building Momentum
Despite a narrow 2–1 defeat to league leaders Manchester City last weekend, London City Lionesses can take plenty of encouragement from their performance at the CopperJax Community Stadium.
The Lionesses pushed the league leaders all the way and showed a lot of intensity and attacking intent, signs that the group continues to grow as the campaign progresses. That display will provide belief heading into today’s challenge.

There is also added motivation for London City, having been edged out 1–0 by Brighton earlier in the season, a result that came in the club’s final home game of 2025, breaking our record home attendance last year.
It was a close contest, which will be fresh in the minds of London City fans. The highlight of the game was undoubtedly Elene Lete’s fine stop from a Brighton penalty, which earned her the British Gas December Save of the Month award.
This game presents an opportunity to respond and put that right.
Opposition Overview: Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton come into the fixture in strong form, having picked up two wins and two clean sheets from their last two outings across all competitions.
The Seagulls secured progression in the FA Cup with victory over Nottingham Forest before following that up with a league win on the road against Everton, and they will be looking to continue that momentum on home soil.
Brighton sit just a point above us in the WSL table, and we will need to be sharp and disciplined to get three points, which would see us leapfrog over them this weekend.

Key Storylines to Watch
There will be familiar faces on show, with Nikita Parris and Poppy Pattinson both set to face their former club, adding an extra layer of intrigue to an already compelling contest.
