London City Lionesses to host open development team sessions ahead of the 21/22 FAWNL season

London City Lionesses are delighted to announce that they will be holding open training sessions for potential players to join our Development Squad ahead of the 2021/22 FA Women's National League season. The Development Squad (DS) sits just below the London City Lionesses (LCL) First Team who compete in the FA Women's Championship and offers ambitious players the perfect opportunity to be coached within the London City Lionesses coaching curriculum and gain opportunities to play and train at first team level.

In a year that has impacted youth football so greatly, LCL are now determined to grow and improve their DS in order to offer young players the perfect environment to develop as people and players. Players can join teams at under 12s, under 14s, under 16s, under 18s and development level at LCL for next season, creating a full pathway towards professional women's football.

London City Lionesses General Manager, Edward Gallagher, said, "With the addition of our new u12, 14, 16 & 18 youth squads, it's important that our DS is the perfect environment to develop our best young players into future 1st team players. We have worked hard over the shut down of DS games to put a structure and plan in place for next season which will see us increase our multidisciplinary team, offer more opportunities to move between the DS and 1st team and also making sure that our 1st team staff are involved heavily in the development of our young players."

LCL pride themselves on the development of young local talent from all backgrounds and are accepting interest for hard working players with aspirations to play in the LCL 1st team.

The open training sessions will give potential players the opportunities to meet both LCL Academy and LCL 1st team staff, take part in technical exercises, small sided games and an 11v11. The sessions will take place at Princes Park, Dartford, DA1 1RT on:

Monday 10th May: 8-10pm

Friday 14th May: 9-10pm

Sat 15th May: 5-7pm
