London City Lionesses are thrilled to welcome 23-year-old Spanish defender Jana Fernández to our squad.

A technically-gifted and versatile defender, who cut her teeth in FC Barcelona’s La Masia, Fernández proves an excellent addition ahead of our Women’s Super League debut.
Fernández joined FC Barcelona’s La Masia at just 12 years old and steadily rose through the ranks before debuting for the first team in November 2018 at age 16 years, 9 months, becoming the club’s second-youngest debutant in its professional era.
She signed her first professional contract in the summer of 2020 after gaining experience between Barça B and the first team, impressing with her fantastic passing range and ability to play at both centre-back and full-back.

At FC Barcelona, she is a five-time Primera División champion, has won the Copa de la Reina three times, the Supercopa de España Femenina four times and the UEFA Women’s Champions League on three occasions.
She has played for her country throughout her youth, winning the U17’s World Cup and the U17’s EURO. She also played for the Spanish senior team which came runners-up in the Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland this summer.
Jana Fernández is delighted to have signed for the club: “It’s an ambitious project; I’m really looking forward to the start of the season.

“London City have made really good signings. I’m excited to get to know the coach, learn how we want to play and I’m so excited to be in the WSL!
“I’m excited to get back on the pitch with María, she was my former teammate, and Elene Lete from the Spanish national team as well!
“We have a really good team, a really good environment and the girls are really nice, so we can make really good things happen.”
Jana is a London City Lioness, now it's your turn.
All in. All season.
