London City Lionesses make their mark on the World Stage

The latest international window delivered goals, debuts, silverware and plenty of proud moments for London City Lionesses.

London City Lionesses were well represented this month, with 14 players receiving international call-ups across senior and youth levels.

Here are the key stories from the break.

Alanna Kennedy Scores as Australia Dominate

Alanna Kennedy delivered one of the standout moments of the international break, scoring a superb goal as Australia recorded back-to-back victories over New Zealand.

The Matildas secured a 5–0 win in their first game, followed by a 2–0 win, which Kennedy scored the first goal in.

London City Trio Shine for England U23s

It was a strong break for our England U23 trio of Cerys Brown, Teyah Goldie and Isobel Goodwin.

Teyah Goldie earned more valuable minutes coming back from injury, playing over an hour in a 1–0 win over Norway and helping her side keep a clean sheet, whilst also playing a full 90 minutes against the USA. Izzy Goodwin provided the decisive moment in that Norway game, heading home the match-winner.

Wassa Sangaré Makes Her Senior France Debut

One of the most special headlines of the break belongs to Wassa Sangaré, who made her senior debut for France.

After two fully deserved call-ups after her fantastic form she’s shown for London City this season, she came off the bench and played her part in helping the team secure third place in the UEFA Women’s Nations League. A huge achievement for an exceptional young talent, and just the start of her international journey.

Jana Fernández Crowned Nations League Champion

There was silverware for our Spaniard Jana Fernández, who lifted the Nations League trophy after Spain defeated Germany 3–0 in the second leg of the Nations League Final.

Jana came off the bench to help close out the match and protect the clean sheet, contributing to a historic triumph for La Roja.
