The London City Lionesses are delighted to announce the signing of Katie Kitching, as the club look to strengthen for the second half of the campaign.
Born in Bedeal, north Yorkshire, Kitching has returned to our shores after playing for the University of South Florida over in the USA.
Starting out at the York Centre of Excellence, Kitching was then picked up by Manchester City, where she was part of their development team playing in the FA WSL reserve league before heading out to the USA.
Studying at the University of South Florida, Kitching went on to join their first team- playing in their attacking midfield.
In 2020, Kitching started all 13 of their games, getting two goals and one assist in the process.
Speaking on the new signing, manager Melissa Philips had this to say:
“Katie is a gritty attacking player who is versatile to play across multiple positions.
“She’s got a fantastic mindset coupled with her determination to drive at players and create, she will be a real threat going forward.”
Phillips went onto add:
“Off the back of a successful time out in the States, Katie is eager and hungry to make her mark back in England.
“We know she will add tremendous value to our current squad and I look forward to seeing the impact she will bring.”
When asked how it felt to have signed for the London City Lionesses, Kitching remarked:
“It’s really exciting to have joined the London City Lionesses, I just can’t wait to get going.
“It’s a really professional environment, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know the team, and working with Mel and the rest of the coaching staff.”
