London City Lionesses add Amy Rodgers to roster of top 2021 signings

London City Lionesses are pleased to announce the signing of former Liverpool F.C. Women standout Amy Rodgers.

Rodgers joins the Pride following a successful tenure with Liverpool FC Women. She has been involved with Liverpool’s youth team set up to the First Team where she made her debut in 2017 against Yeovil Town.

This past season Rodgers featured in 14 out of 20 matches for the Reds netting three goals; one of which was against the Pride in the 2-2 battle in the final match of the season. Rodgers also got her first assist in the 2-2 draw. The centre-midfielder has reached a milestone of 50 appearances for Liverpool. In the 2018/2019 season, Rodgers won the Fans' Liverpool Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year awards.

Despite her young age, the 21-year-old also brings a great deal of international experience to London City Lionesses. Rodgers has represented England at a U17, U19, and U21 level and was part of the U19's side that secured qualifications to Euro Championships in 2019.

Head Coach Melissa Phillips spoke on Rodgers and said, “Amy has an unbelievable work ethic and relentless energy. She is a gritty midfielder with a knack for goal.

Most importantly, she is a person of tremendous character who shares values and ambitions with the club. We are thrilled to have her joining us on our pursuit for the season ahead.”

When asked about joining the Pride, Rodgers said, "I'm really excited to be joining LCL. As an opponent last season, I saw first-hand the passion the team played with, so when I met with the staff and heard the ambitions of the club, it made it something I definitely wanted to be a part of. I can't wait to get going with the team to kick on and achieve the club's goals."
