Jana Fernàndez pens new deal

London City Lionesses are delighted to announce that Jana Fernàndez has extended her contract, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2029. 



The defender joined from Barcelona in August 2025 and featured in all of London City’s league matches in their maiden Barclays Women’s Super League campaign last season, impressing with consistent performances from right-back which earned multiple Player of the Match accolades.


Voted Fans’ Player of the Season for 2025/26, the 24-year-old scored her first goal for the club in February’s Women’s FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur and was also on target in a 1-1 draw in the league match at West Ham in March.   



A five-time Primera División champion, Fernàndez has won the Copa de la Reina three times, the Supercopa de España Femenina four times and the UEFA Women’s Champions League on three occasions. She has played for her country throughout her youth, winning the U17 World Cup and the U17 EURO. 


She represents the Spanish national team and was part of the squad to finish runners-up in the Women’s EURO 2025. 


Fernàndez said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign a new contract here at London City.
