Freya and Maddi Inspire the Next Generation at Chislehurst School for Girls

London City Lionesses, Freya Godfrey and Maddi Wilde, recently had the honour of officially opening the brand-new astroturf pitch at Chislehurst School for Girls - a facility set to make a lasting impact on the future of girls' sport at the school.

The duo kicked off the occasion by cutting the ribbon and unveiling a commemorative plaque, before giving a short speech highlighting the importance of access to quality facilities and the power of sport in empowering young women. Their words resonated strongly with students and staff alike.

Also speaking at the event were the school’s Headteacher and the Vice-Chair of the Trust Board, who shared their excitement about the opportunities the new pitch will bring to the school community.

After the formalities, Freya and Maddi stayed pitchside to support the girls during their first session on the new surface - offering tips, answering questions, and taking photos with excited students.

The Headteacher was full of praise for the Lionesses, saying:

“Freya and Maddi were fabulous, and they have made many new fans today. They are two fine young women, who are strong role models for the girls and may not know how much the little ones look up to them – but their relaxed way of talking with the girls made them all feel at ease. They were buzzing afterwards.”

At London City Lionesses, inspiring the next generation is at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to see our players making such a meaningful impact in the community.

A huge thank you to Chislehurst School for Girls for having us, and to Freya and Maddi for being brilliant ambassadors for the club and the game.
