Connie Scofield is back for a second season with the Pride and can't wait for the campaign to begin.
Speaking exclusively to londoncitylionesses.com, the Birmingham-born midfielder reflected on the arrival of Joceyln Pêcheur, her ambitions for the season ahead, and more.
Here is every word she said.
How excited are you to be working with Joceyln Pêcheur, our new head coach?
He has a lot of experience that we can all learn from.
He's going to drive standards and I'm really excited to work with him. I think he's really into developing players and working with individuals as well as the team; I'm excited about that. Everyone feels the same – it's a good opportunity and it's a fresh start this season.
I'm sure a lot of positive changes will be happening.
What was your reaction to our 27 June press conference?
I think it shows the direction the club's heading.
We're very lucky to have Michele [Kang] who wants to push women's football with research and growing the female game so that it's on par with the men's game.
It's fair to say that we didn't reach the heights we hoped for last season. What are your hopes and expectations for the season ahead?
Like you said, we weren't very happy with how last season went.
But this is a new start and a new season. We’ve got big ambitions and we’re working to achieve those goals on a daily basis, working hard in training and hopefully getting some good results.
We’re going to be taking each game as it comes.
