London City Lionesses can confirm that head coach Remi Allen departed the Club upon the expiry of her short-term contract.
Allen arrived at Princes Park in March and oversaw the squad’s resurgence in the Barclays Women’s Championship, opening her career in the dugout with three consecutive wins.
London City’s rebound started with an inspired comeback win versus Reading, before back-to-back victories against title-contending Sunderland A.F.C. and Charlton Athletic eased the Club’s relegation concerns.
The League Managers Association recognised Allen’s impact, handing her the Women’s Championship Manager of the Month Award for March.
London City finished the season on a positive note, beating Lewes 3-2 at Princes Park to secure eighth in the standings.
“Remi came during a difficult period and achieved exceptional results, driving standards amongst the players and staff to take us to a position at the end of the season where we were more comfortable than many people may have expected,” said director of football Ronald Thompson.
"Remi inspired the team to deliver the performances they did during the final weeks of the campaign, with her diligence, attention to detail, and the fact that the players bought into her ideas testament to the work she did.
“I would like to wish Remi the very best going forward on behalf of everyone at London City Lionesses, she will be a success wherever she goes next."
