The 22-year-old midfielder joins the Pride after three trophy-filled seasons at Celtic, which culminated in the Hoops becoming Scottish Women’s Premier League champions for the first time.

Celtic lifted the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup and Scottish Women’s Cup in 2021-22, Shen’s first season in Glasgow, with the Shanghai-born midfielder quickly establishing herself as a fan-favourite at Excelsior Stadium.

Shen’s senior international debut came at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the 2001-born playmaker drawing into the Steel Roses’ starting line-up for their Group Stage fixture against Denmark.

“I can feel everyone’s ambition – we all have a clear goal, which is to win promotion to the Women’s Super League,” said Shen, who won the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup for the second time in 2021-22.

“I’m very proud to play for a team with this kind of ambition and believe that we will surprise everyone, with the support of Michele [Kang] and Jocelyn [Prêcheur].

“As a midfielder, I like to control the game and create chances by controlling the tempo and passing the ball. I don’t want to define what kind of player I am – because I will work hard in every role I’m asked to play. I just want to win.”

Shen is the fourth player with senior national team experience to arrive in the capital this summer, following the additions of Kosovare Asllani (Sweden), Charlène Meyong (Cameroon), and Miljana Ivanović (Serbia).

“Shen performed very well when she played in Scotland and showed lots of improvement from when I coached against her in Shanghai,” said head coach Jocelyn Prêcheur.

“She’s still very young and has a lot of technical skills – she can play as a No. 6 or a No. 8 and moves around a lot inside the midfield. She will provide a lot of energy and she already knows what it is like to play at a high level.

“Shen is a very good hope of the Chinese National Team and we will use her energy and skills to improve the level of our team. She has a very good profile, which will help me implement my project on the field.”
