The London City Lionesses are delighted to confirm the signing of Shanade Hopcroft from the Colorado Buffs.
Born in Aylesbury, Hopcroft was first spotted at the age of nine, when she was snapped up by Chelsea to join their under 10’s.
Five years with the South London club followed, before joining Middlesex under 16’s and then reserve teams of the London Bee’s and Reading.
Hopcroft next headed over the pond to attend Daytona State College, where she would go on to help the Falcons to the 2017-18 conference championship.
In her final season with the team, before graduating in 2018, Hopcroft found the net eight times and bagged 15 assists in 28 games.
Hopcroft then joined the Colorado Buffaloes, where she went on to lead the fifth highest scoring attack in the league, bagging 13 goals and 12 assists.
Speaking on the new signing, manager Melissa Philips had this to say: “Shanade is a competitor who plays with a tremendous amount of passion.
“She has the confidence, technical quality and flair in 1v1 situations along with a knack for goal.
Phillips went onto add: “In addition to her quality on the pitch, she's driven to help the club achieve our ambitions and add value to our current squad.
“She played at the very top level out in the States and we look forward to the wealth of experiences she will bring in the second half of the season and beyond.”
When asked how it felt to have signed for the London City Lionesses, Hopcroft remarked:
“It’s really exciting to be able to say I've joined London City, and I just can't wait to get onto the pitch and pull on a London City shirt for the first time.”
“When I get on the pitch, the fans can expect me to give my all in everything I do, it doesn’t matter if it’s in training or on the pitch, I'll always give my all.”
