Melissa Phillips awarded Manager of the Month for April

London City Lionesses are pleased to announce that Melissa Phillips has been awarded FA Women's Championship Manager of the Month for April.

April saw the Lionesses pick up three wins out of three, against Charlton, Lewes and Bristol City, ensuring that the side finished the month in the driving seat to end the season in second place, a record high finish for the club.

Phillips said on winning the award:

“I am honoured to receive this award, but any individual award is always a reflection of the team and staff.

“We have a humble, hungry and hardworking group who I am so grateful to work with everyday.

“With a great run of form through April, we feel this is a very fitting way to finish off the season as this team has worked so incredibly hard to compete at the top all season long.”

Sporting Director Edward Gallagher had this to say on Phillips’ accolade:

“Congratulations to Melissa on winning manager of the month.

“She is always the first to share any success with all the staff and the players and deflect any praise directed solely to her, but this award is testament to how hard she works and the quality of management she has shown.

“Melissa has driven standards and leaves no stone unturned to prepare our players.

“She works extremely hard and has been a key driving force in our on pitch success this season at London City Lionesses.”

The award is Phillips’ second in the Championship, having first been awarded Manager of the Month back in January 2021.

Congratulations Melissa, from everyone at London City!
