Arsenal’s Melis Mehmet signs with London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses are delighted to announce the signing of Melis Mehmet to the club on a dual contract, on loan from Arsenal FC.

The 17-year old fullback joins the Pride on loan from Arsenal’s Under-21 squad and academy.

She studied at Oaklands College in Welwyn Garden City training as part of the 16-19 year old education programme, where she was supported by Arsenal F.C. enabling her to be involved in full-time education.

Head Coach Melissa Phillips said, “Melis is a dynamic and attacking minded fullback who brings an unselfish hardworking nature to her. She’s been captain of Arsenal Academy throughout the past season and we look forward to her continued development as she makes the jump to first team football. She has a bright future and will definitely impact our squad at London City.”

Mehmet shared on thoughts on signing with London City Lionesses and said, “I’m excited to have joined such an ambitious club, with great drive to help us as players to progress and reach out potential. I can’t wait to get started and showcase my ability at this level.”
