We’re delighted to announce that Kosovare Asllani will join London City Lionesses on a two-year deal following the expiry of her contract with AC Milan.
The Sweden international carries a wealth of experience at the highest level of the women’s game, ranking sixth in all-time appearances and goals for her country.
Asllani’s storied career includes three national championships, twice lifting the Swedish Damallsvenskan with Linköpings FC and helping Manchester City win their first Barclays Women’s Super League title.
“I’m delighted to welcome Kosovare to the team,” said London City Lionesses Owner Michele Kang. “Her impressive achievements spanning international and club football speak volumes about her leadership and abilities, and we are all excited to see her in action at Hayes Lane this season.
“To count on the 2022 Golden Foot winner within our team and be able to learn from Kosovare’s hugely successful experiences is truly a landmark moment for the club.”
Asllani, a 187-cap international for Sweden, has featured at eight major tournaments, finishing third at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and securing silver medals at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.
The 34-year-old’s club career includes spells with the Chicago Red Stars, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid, playing predominantly as a centre-forward or attacking midfielder.
“I am delighted to join London City Lionesses and look forward to contributing towards the team’s success” said Asllani. “I am so excited by the team’s aspirations and can’t wait to meet my teammates and the fans.
"We have the opportunity to write a new chapter in the Club's history and our objective this season is to turn Michele's vision into reality on the field."
Asllani’s contract contains the option of an additional year, with the Swede selecting the No. 9 jersey.
