We are delighted to announce Carly Girasoli has signed with London City Lionesses ahead of the upcoming 2021/22 season, subject to international clearance.
Girasoli joins the Pride following a season with Rangers Women F.C., where she signed her first professional contract. The year before, Girasoli came from Glasgow City F.C. Women where she spent three seasons. In her time with City, Girasoli was a part of the squad that reached the UEFA Champions League final 16 in 2018. She won three league titles at Glasgow: the SWPL 2018 and 2019, and, SWF Scottish Cup in 2019. At the SWF (Scottish Women’s Football) awards in 2018, she was named Scottish Youth Player of the Year.
The Scottish international is a product of the Celtic F.C. academy programme where she joined at the age of 7 after playing for a boys team. Giralsoli was with Celtic for eight years before her move to Glasgow City.
The centre back comes with international experience playing with the Scottish Women’s National Team at a U16, U17 and U19 level.
Head Coach Melissa Phillips said, “Carly is a bright young defender with an exception understanding of the game. She joins London City with invaluable experiences within the Champions league and the top level of Scotland.
We look forward to her adding value on and off the pitch within our culture.”
Carly shared her thoughts on joining London City Lionesses and said, “I’m delighted to have signed with LCL. From speaking to the coaching staff, I could tell that this is a very ambitious club and I knew straight away that it was something I wanted to be a part of. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
