Sanni Franssi Signs for London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses are pleased to announce the signing of Sanni Franssi, subject to international clearance, who joins the club with a wealth of international and European experience. 

The 30-year-old striker arrived into Cobdown Park after spending over five years at Real Sociedad, where she made 135 appearances in the Spanish topflight, scoring 35 goals. 

Franssi is an established international footballer, capping over 90 times for Finland, including in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and the UEFA Women’s Nations League 2025.  

She is currently currently competing at UEFA Women's Euro 2025.

Franssi is the second Finnish footballer to join the ranks at London City, following the footsteps of Lotta Lindstrøm, who signed for the club last summer. 

Before her spell in Spain with Real Sociedad, Franssi spent two years at Fortuna Hjørring, netting 19 times in 41 games and picking up the cup and the league title over two years. 

She also played for Juventus, where she scored 10 goals in 21 games, contributing to a Serie A title. 

She earned a move to the Italian Giants after a fantastic start to her career at PK-35, with an 18-goal loan spell at FC Zurich Frauen in between. In total, she scored 53 goals in 91 appearances over five years at PK-35, also picking up the Player of the Season award in 2016.

Having played on the international stage at the highest level in club competition, the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Franssi is a signing of intent for London City, with big ambitions ahead of their first year in the Women’s Super League.

“Sanni brings a wealth of experience to us having played in the Spanish league for the past 5 years and a seasoned international having been involved in major championships. A dynamic front line player who will bring energy and drive into our attacking options. Her experiences will be valuable to the younger players within the squad.”
