Remi Allen named Barclays Women's Championship Manager of the Month for March 2024

London City Lionesses head coach Remi Allen has won the Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month Award for March.

Allen, who joined the Pride from Birmingham City on 2 March, made a blistering start to her career in the dugout, securing three consecutive wins to lift London City six points clear of the relegation places.

“I was really shocked when the call came through that we'd won the award, I hadn't really thought about it,” said the Leicester-born coach.

“I'm really proud of our staff and players, it's not an individual award by any stretch of the imagination, we won this as a collective and I'm delighted for the group.

"When I think back [to the three wins], I wonder how it happened. It was enjoyable and the manner of the wins, especially against Charlton, was one of the best things I've been a part of in football. I've gained so much knowledge and experience from it and I can't wait for more."

Allen’s winning run started on the road against Reading, with the Pride scoring twice in the second-half to beat the Royals 2-1 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Sunday 3 March.

London City stunned league-leading Sunderland a week later, winning 1-0 at Princes Park, before doubling down on their fine form with a thrilling 2-1 comeback win away at Charlton Athletic on Sunday 24 March.

Looking ahead to the Pride's final two games of the season, Allen added: "We're excited and raring to go after the international break. Securing our league status is our objective for this month and we're looking forward to getting back on the pitch."
