Last Time Out

Last time out, London City booked their place in the fifth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, beating Sunderland at Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground.

Wassa Sangaré’s first goal for London City was the difference between the two sides, breaking the deadlock with a fine header from Grace Geyoro’s corner.

The game will be remembered as a special day for Daniëlle Van de Donk, who made her first appearance for London City, playing the final 18 minutes of the contest.

The last time we faced Manchester City

London City have only faced Manchester City once in our history, and it was early into our inaugural WSL campaign.

London City Lionesses put in a spirited performance but ultimately fell to a 4–1 defeat against Manchester City at the Joie Stadium.

Goals from Vivianne Miedema, Laura Blindkilde, and a brace from Khadija Shaw sealed victory for the hosts, despite London City showing plenty of fight and creating chances of their own, with a superb finish from Nikita Parris.

Opposition Overview

The Citizens currently sit at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League, with a perfect record since their opening day defeat to Chelsea, winning every game.

A win for Manchester City would see them go nine points clear at the top of the WSL after this weekend’s results.

Last time out, Jeglertz’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Blues again, in the Subway Women’s League Cup.

There will be familiar faces for Manchester City fans, with Kosovare Asllani, Nikita Parris, Poppy Pattinson and Alanna Kennedy facing their old club this weekend.

Meanwhile, Andrée Jeglertz is hopeful that new signing Sam Coffey will be in the squad travelling to face London City Lionesses.
