London City Lionesses are thrilled to announce the signing of goalkeeper Mary Earps on a two-year-deal.

An icon of the women’s game, the 33-year-old will join from Paris St-Germain on 1 July 2026 following the conclusion of her contract after spending two years in France.

She played a crucial role in England's victory at Euro 2022 and their route to the 2023 World Cup final. She retired from international football in May 2025 with a total of 53 caps. Earps also represented England at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-23 level before making her senior debut in 2017.

Prior to her time in France, Earps spent five years at Manchester United, racking up over 100 appearances. At the Red Devils, she became one of the Women’s Super League’s top goalkeepers, winning the Golden Glove, helping the club qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and lifting the Women’s FA Cup in 2024, the club’s first major trophy.

Earps built a reputation as one of the world’s leading goalkeepers through a club career that took her across England and Germany. After beginning at Leicester City and gaining experience with clubs including Nottingham Forest, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Birmingham City and Bristol Academy, she established herself as a standout performer at Reading, where she earned PFA Team of the Year recognition.

A move to German champions VfL Wolfsburg in 2018 brought her first major trophies, including a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, before she returned to England with Manchester United in 2019.

Earps has been won a host of individual player accolades including two-time FIFA Best Goalkeeper of the Year award winner (2022 and 2023). The East-Midlands born stopper was also named BBC Sports Personality (2023) and won the Women’s Super League Golden Glove and World Cup Golden Glove in the same calendar year.

On joining the club, Earps said: “I’m over the moon, I’m really looking forward to it.

“I think the club speaks to exactly what I stand for, I can’t wait to join and get down to business. This is the first day of the next chapter.

“The club’s values represent what I want to represent, and they are passionate about what I want to achieve and change the game in a positive way. All the conversations have been really positive and every time I spoke with the club, I wanted to hear more.

“The vision and ambition, including the new training facility is incredible and I’m looking forward to seeing that develop, it shows what our owner Michele (Kang) and everyone at the club want to do in terms of really going for it. I think there is something really special here.

“It’s about putting a marker down and saying we want to be competitive in a short space of time.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside Elene (Lete) and the goalkeeping unit. Elene made some great saves and interventions last season. Hopefully we can bounce off each other and work hard and enjoy it.

“My message to the fans is that I’m really excited to get started and make some memories together, I can’t wait to play in front of you all.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the players, the staff, the style of play and club culture and trying to give everything I can to help the club achieve its collective goals and be as successful as possible.

“I feel I still have so much left to give to the game, and that's exactly why I chose London City.

“It won’t be easy, the WSL is extremely competitive. The team had a brilliant 2025/26 season finishing mid-table in their first season, now it’s about climbing the table and working towards finishing as high as possible.”
