Malou Marcetto joins London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Malou Marcetto

  

The 22-year-old Dane arrives from Liga F club Madrid CFF and has penned a deal until the summer of 2028. 



Marcetto has played in top European women's competitions in her career to date. She started out at Brøndby IF in Denmark's Kvindeligaen after progressing through the club’s academy. She made 51 senior appearances between 2020 and 2023, scoring nine goals in the 2021-2022 season to help her team finish third in the league. 

  

The Denmark U23 international then moved to Dijon FCO in France's D1 Féminine where she established herself as a regular before transferring to Madrid CFF in the summer of 2024. 



In Liga F, Marcetto made 40 league appearances for the Madrid outfit, contributing five goals and seven assists and was a consistent performer.   

  

Internationally, Marcetto has represented Denmark at U16, U17, U19 and U23 age groups with notable involvement in European Championship qualifying campaigns.  She featured in nine matches, netting four goals as Denmark attempted qualification for the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship while in 2021–2022, Marcetto progressed to the U19 team, accumulating 11 caps and four goals, with notable involvement in the qualifiers for the 2022 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship.



On joining London City, Marcettosaid:


“I feel very excited and so happy to be here.  The facilities are great and the people I’ve met have made me feel really welcome.  

  

“England just reminds me of, and makes me think of, football. It’s the biggest football country, in my opinion. Women’s football is growing here and it’s going to be a very competitive league to play in, I’m really excited to be here and get started.  

  

“London is a cool city. I’m from Copenhagen so I think I’ll fit in very well.  I’m so happy to be here. 

  

“In terms of my playing style, as a midfielder, I like to be creative and also work hard.  

  

“My aim is to be do the best for the team. Winning and earning points for the team is the important thing.”
