Lucy Shepherd signs for London City Lionesses ahead of new season


London City Lionesses can announce that Lucy Shepherd has joined the Pride from Washington Spirit.


Starting out with Aston Villa, where she Helped lead the U17’s to FA Youth Cup Final in 2013-14, where she became the first-ever Aston Villa player to score in an FA Youth Cup Final.


In 2017 Shepherd moved out to the states, joining Hofstra University, where she would go on to win the Colonial Athletic Association title four seasons in a row.


During that time Shepherd would prove to be a vital player in the side, with her final season with the team seeing her rack up 8 goals and 12 assists in 22 games.


This form would see her Drafted by Washington Spirit with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2022 NWSL College Draft.


On the international stage, Shepherd Helped the England U19 team win the UEFA Coefficient Tournament, scoring her first international goal against Northern Ireland.


When asked her thoughts on signing for the club, Shepherd said:


“It feels great to have finally signed for the club and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch.


“This is a great club with really good ambitions for the season, I hope I can help the club achieve them.


“With this season it’s all going to be about taking one game at a time and building that momentum to hopefully take us to a title.”

“With a high level youth career at Aston Villa and an exceptional career out in the States at Hofstra, Lucy brings a competitive mentality to the squad.

“She is dynamic with both feet, has the pace and athleticism to constantly threaten opposition back lines and a real determination to make her mark back in England.


“We are delighted to have her on board at London City.”
