London City Lionesses is thrilled to announce that full-back Emma Mukandi has inked a two-year contract with the Pride.
The Scotland international arrives at Princes Park at the peak of an impressive senior career, which includes experience in the Barclays Women’s Super League, Germany’s Frauen Bundesliga, and the Scottish Premier League.
“It’s been good so far, with positive training sessions, quality facilities, and a great group of girls,” said Mukandi.
“After speaking with the coaches and hearing about their project for the team, I felt like it was a good opportunity to still be playing professionally. It’s a chance to try and win promotion to the Women’s Super League and I really like the sound of that.
“It’s nice to join a team where I’m already familiar with some of the players in the squad, so it’s been a great start.”
The Kirkcaldy-born defender has been a mainstay for Scotland for over a decade, scoring seven times in 73 appearances for her country.
Mukandi has also impressed in domestic football and started her senior career by winning four consecutive Scottish Premier League titles, three Scottish Cups, and two Scottish Premier League Cups at Glasgow City.
Moves to SGS Essen, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Reading came next for the 30-year-old, who punctuated her time in North London with three Conti Cups, two FA Cups, and a winner’s medal from the 2018-19 Women’s Super League season.
First Team Assistant Coach Nicola Williams added: “Emma is one of the most experienced players we have in the squad this season, coming from the Women’s Super League. She was very prominent in the Arsenal squad years ago and remains at a very high level.
“She’ll be one of our prominent leaders, which we have already seen in training this week. The way she communicates with her teammates on the field adds a lot of value for us too.”
Emma has joined the Pride – and now it’s your chance.
London City Lionesses is proud to offer family-friendly and affordable season tickets, with prices starting from just £5.45 per match.
