London City Lionesses are delighted to announce the loan signing of French youth international Wassa Sangaré from Olympique Lyonnais.

The 19-year-old defender arrives at the CopperJax Stadium for the 2025/26 season on loan, adding pace, versatility, and exciting potential to Jocelyn Prêcheur’s squad ahead of our first campaign in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Sangaré arrives having developed through the academy of Europe’s most successful club, OL Lyonnes.
On the international stage, Sangaré lifted the 2023 UEFA Women’s U17 Championship with France before stepping up to the U19s, where she has earned over 25 caps and contributed four goals.
Sangaré brings strength, composure, and a natural ability to our backline – qualities that make her an exciting fit for London City.

Speaking on her loan move, Sangaré said:
“When London City contacted me, I didn’t hesitate to come because it is a beautiful, ambitious project.”
“The WSL is one of the best leagues at the moment. There is a lot of fans who come to the games, and it will be exciting to play in the large stadiums, the best stadiums in the world.
“I’m excited to play with Daniëlle as she was at Lyon, and she is a good teammate!
“I’m happy to be here and I am excited to start!”

Sangaré becomes the latest addition to a growing squad that blends international experience with youthful energy, as the club continues to build for their debut WSL campaign.
Wassa is a London City Lioness, now it's your turn.
All in. All season.
