London City Lionesses is thrilled to announce the appointment of Remi Allen as First Team Head Coach until the end of the Barclays Women’s Championship season.

Allen arrives at Princes Park following the mutual termination of her contract with Birmingham City, for whom she combined playing and coaching this term.

Selected by the Football Association for the Elite Coach Programme, the former Reading, Leicester City, and Aston Villa midfielder has served England Under-23s as an assistant coach since October 2023.

Allen said: “I always coached while playing, even when I was young. I’ve always worked in Regional Talent Centres, covering pretty much every age group at every club I’ve been at. I’ve been putting in the work behind the scenes and have all of my badges.

“The experiences and learnings that I’ve taken from my time with England U23s can only put me in good stead for the future.

"Birmingham City were also fantastic with how they linked me to this side of the game, so I’ve put in a lot of work to prepare myself for the next step in my career.”

The Pride’s league campaign continues on Sunday [3 March], with our visit to Reading kick-starting a six-game run into the end of the season.

“The priority is to come away from the bottom two,” Allen added, “we need points on the board and we need them quickly. The players and the staff have been fantastic in terms of what they’ve been doing to prepare for the game against Reading.

“I watched training today and I was impressed with lots of what I saw. It’s going to be a competitive game tomorrow, with quality likely to be the deciding factor. It’ll be a difficult test, but I’m excited.”

Remi, welcome to the Pride.
