London City Lionesses can confirm the departure of nine players upon the expiry of their contracts, with one player returning to their parent club.
Tinaya Alexander, Jade Bailey, Paige Culver, Leanne Cowan, Nicole Douglas, Izzy Groves, Lois Joel, Sonia O’Neill, and Paige Satchell will leave on 30 June, with Maddi Wilde returning to Bristol City following the completion of her loan spell.
“I want to thank all of the players for their hard work last season,” said Director of Football Ronald Thompson. “They were key to helping us secure our safety in the league and we wish them all the best for the future.
“The Club has hugely exciting plans for the season ahead and we’re going to do everything we can to fulfil Michele Kang’s ambition to recruit players who can help us reach the Barclays Women’s Super League, and stay there”
Lois Joel arrived at Princes Park in July 2022, making a lasting impact when she was appointed as the second captain in our history in August 2023. The Wales international made her fiftieth appearance for the Pride on 21 April versus Southampton.
Tinaya Alexander, Jade Bailey, Nicole Douglas, Izzy Groves, and Sonia O’Neill spent one season at Princes Park, helping the Club retain its Barclays Women’s Championship status and qualify for the last eight of the Continental Tyres League Cup.
Leanne Cowan returned to London City in November 2023, marking her comeback from an injury suffered eighteen months earlier.
Paige Culver also departs upon the expiry of her contract and has retired from professional football due to medical reasons.
Everyone at London City Lionesses would like to wish our departing players the very best for the future and thank them for their contributions in blue.
The Club will release further information ahead of the 2024-25 Barclays Women’s Championship season in due course.
