We’re delighted to announce that Grace Neville has agreed terms on a new one-year contract with London City Lionesses, extending her time with the Pride to a historic sixth season.
The New Zealand international scored the opening goal in our inaugural game, a 2-0 Barclays Women’s Championship win over London Bees in September 2019, and has been a fan-favourite ever since.
Neville ranks third in all-time London City Lionesses appearances (74), with the best years of her career ahead of her at age-24.
“I can’t wait to get started because it feels like this kind of opportunity has been a long-time coming,” said the London-born right-back. “The Club is in a brilliant position and I’m really proud and excited to be a part of it.
"Previously, we were fortunate to have good people and players come through the door. Now, we have a whole business model, training ground, and strategy to go with it. I really think this year could be the year that we push for promotion and turn our aspirations into reality.”
Neville, whose contract includes the option of an additional season in blue, debuted for New Zealand in January 2022, recording ten appearances for the Football Ferns.
Director of Football Ronald Thompson added: “Grace offers us a level of maturity, while still being young and improving all the time. She’s hungry to play and wants to do that at the highest level.
“With Grace’s desire and defensive ability, we felt that it was a really easy decision to keep her because she will continue to grow with the Club.”
