London City Lionesses are delighted to confirm Freya Godfrey has signed a new deal at the club until the summer of 2029.

The forward initially arrived on loan in January 2025 before securing a permanent move last summer.

After impressing in the club’s maiden top-flight campaign, Godfrey was voted London City’s 2025/26 Players’ Player of the Season with six goals and four assists.

Since her first call-up in November 2025, Godfrey has also been selected in all of Sarina Wiegman’s England squads.

After making her London City debut against Portsmouth in early 2025, Godfrey appeared in the final seven games of the run-in for London City, playing a crucial part in the club’s Barclays Women’s Championship triumph in 2025.

The 21-year-old climbed the ranks at Arsenal’s academy from age 12 and represented England at every youth level from U14s upwards.

On penning her new deal, Godfrey said: “I’m made up to sign a new contract here at London City.

“I’ve loved my time here so far. It was amazing to win the Championship title in 2025 and to represent the club in their first WSL campaign where we had a really strong season.

“We have world class players here, people who have won World Cups, Champions League titles and know what it takes to win.

“I’m training and playing alongside players I looked up to when I was growing up such as Nikita Parris, who I watched for years in the national team, Daniëlle van de Donk when I was at Arsenal, and Delphine Cascarino is one of the best wingers in the world.

“To have players like that to train alongside every single day is indescribable.

“A big part of a young player’s development is game time and having been given time, I feel I've come on leaps and bounds on the pitch and also off the pitch.

“Last season was great. We had a strong first season in the WSL and there are good people and good vibes which is really important.

“My aim is to keep that momentum going into next season and hopefully we can be as successful as possible.”

Freya’s not going anywhere. You shouldn’t either.
