Daniëlle van de Donk signs for London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses are thrilled to announce the signing of Daniëlle van de Donk on a

two-year contract until 2027.

The 33-year-old Dutch international brings a remarkable wealth of experience to the

CopperJax Community Stadium, having played at the highest level in the Netherlands,

England and France.

Internationally, van de Donk has played 167 times, and has won the UEFA Women’s

Euros with the Oranje’s, playing a key part in their 2017 triumph on home soil.

Van de Donk started her career in the Netherlands, playing for Willem II, VVV-Venlo and

PSV . Shortly after her first move abroad to Swedish side Göteborg, the midfielder signed

for WSL outfit Arsenal.

The technically gifted and intelligent midfielder starred with the Gunners for six years

and established herself as one of the best in the world at her craft, winning numerous

cups and the WSL title in 2018-19.

She then made the move to OL Lyonnes, and continued to add silverware to her

impressive CV, winning the Division 1 Féminine three times, more domestic trophies

and the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2021/22.

After over 100 appearances for OL Lyonnes, van de Donk returns to the capital of

England to join London City embarking on their historic inaugural season in the WSL:

“It’s been crazy, I’m feeling really good!”

“It’s just such a nice environment to be in, the club really appeals to me, it reminds me

of a little family, and I want to be a part of it!

“The project that London City have, it’s different but in a good way. London City have to

battle for everything and that’s my style.

The Dutch midfielder is excited to play in the WSL again: “I was there for six years, and it

was very good. I loved it and saw no hesitation in coming back.

“It’s a good league; the stadiums are full and hopefully we can get more and more fans

here too.

“I’m so excited to meet all of the fans, and I promise that I’ll give 100%."

Director of Football Ronald Thompson was also delighted to get the deal over the line:

“I’ve known Daniëlle as a player for many years; she’s a great technician of the ball and

can make the game tick.

“She has all of the positives you want from a player of her level.

“On top of that, she is a great person as well, so she is a great addition to the club."
