London City Lionesses beat Ipswich Town 3-0 to open preseason, with Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Ruesha Littlejohn, and Charlene Meyong providing the goals.
After the match, we heard from Corinne Henson, Julia Roddar, and Jocelyn Prêcheur.
Corinne Henson:
What did you make of the team's performance today?
For sure. It was the first full workout for the team and our first time playing together, so it was great to get that started. I think there were lots of positives and things to build on, which is exciting. I think we executed the principles that have been drilled into us over the last five weeks quite well, trying to dominate the game and possession. It's exciting to see where it can go.
You played the full match, playing a couple of different positions, how was that for you?
It's good. I think the manager is trying to understand where he wants to put players amongst the collective, so it was good for me to get 90 minutes and show what I can do. It was positive.
Julia Roddar:
How did you find your first match with the team?
With a lot of new players coming together this week, it's very nice to have a win and good things to take with us. There are also things that we have to work on.
I've been here one week and I feel like I will fit in well with how Jocelyn wants us to play. We have a lot of talented players and maybe more coming in. I think we'll be a good squad and I hope that I can bring a winning culture because I have won a few league titles in the past and it isn't easy. I hope we can create a culture that really has that.
Jocelyn Prêcheur:
What are your main takeaways after your first match with the Club?
There were a lot of positives, but there are also a lot of things we need to improve.
We were far from perfect, but it was our first proper friendly game and some of the players only arrived three days ago. My foundations are being understood, so we can continue to build the team.
